I had found this idea years ago in a magazine my mother had. They are lamb cakes or as I call them Lambie Cakes! They are super adorable and super easy to make! First you gather the following supplies:
1 box cake mix (plus whatever additional ingredients the box calls for)
1 tub of white icing
2 9" round pans
1 bag of large marshmallows
1 bag of mini marshmallows (optional)
Pink, Blue and Black decorating icing
Bake the cakes in the 9" pan according to the directions on the box. Make sure to let them cool for at least a half an hour before removing from pan and decorating with icing.
Lay out the cakes on the platter you will be serving them on and cover with white frosting.
Take your large marshmallows and cut them in half and place all around the outside edges of your round cakes. This part also helps to cover whatever frosting may make it onto the plate as you cover the sides. You can fill in some places and make the "wool" thicker by placing the mini marshmallows around.
Take your pink, black and blue decorating frosting and draw a lamb face on both cakes. I usually make one a girl by drawing a bow on the top of the head.
And there you have it! Two adorable Lambie Cakes for Easter brunch!
